Support Literacy in Hong Kong,

“Regular readers report higher wellbeing and life satisfaction compared to lapsed and non-readers. They also benefit from improved sleep, concentration, empathy, and creativity.” – The Reading Agency, 2024 Report
Why Should you Support HKILF?
We are a registered charity non-profit organisation that inspires the joy of reading by bringing the world’s writers and stories to Hong Kong’s communities.
A dynamic year-round programme and an annual festival offer dialogue, entertainment and perspective, while the Young Readers Festival motivates students to engage with all aspects of the written word, improving communication skills, while nurturing the art of writing and storytelling.
According to the most recent PISA study, summarised by CUHK, reading literacy scores of Hong Kong students have dropped significantly, knocking them out of the global top ten. (Tse, HKFP, 6/12/2023)
With your generosity our registered charity non-profit organisation provides programming for the general public, emergent writers, marginalised communities, students, and other literacy advocates (through access to top quality literary figures from around the world). We champion the stories, words, and languages that are found in a literary rich society through complimentary ticketing, discounted pricing and invitations to exclusive literary events.
We are grateful for the ongoing commitments of our core contributors including the Government Agency SCOLAR, private individuals, corporations, and various consulates and arts organisations. We appeal for your generous support to ensure we can deliver an exciting and impactful festival. All donations are tax deductible.
