Markus Zusak joins the 2019 Festival!

We are delighted to announce that Markus Zusak, Australia’s international bestselling author of six novels including The Book Thief, will join our line-up this year as one of our headliners.
His work has been translated into more than forty languages and has spent more than a decade on the New York Times bestseller list, establishing Zusak as one of the most successful authors to come out of Australia. Join our programmes this fall to hear Zusak speak about The Book Thief as well as his latest work, Bridge of Clay, a long-anticipated novel that had been in the making for over a decade and tells a sweeping, poetic tale about loss, grief and love across generations of an Australian family.
