Yu Li-Qiong graduated with a BA in Literature and MA in Dramatic Art from Nanjing University. She is the author of A New Year’s Reunion, Gently Open the Door, Auntie’s Tree, Maomao, Come Back Home and Xiaomei’s Remark. A New Year’s Reunion was the first Chinese children’s book to achieve international recognition. It won the first ever Feng Zikai Chinese Children’s Picture Book Award (2009), was nominated as one of the Top Ten Best Illustrated Children’s Books by the New York Times Best Illustrated Children’s Books of 2011, and was selected as one of the 100 Titles for Reading and Sharing in 2011 by New York Public Library. The book has been translated into English, French, Japanese and Korean. Yu-Li Qiong is currently Chief Editor of Oriental Baby and is dedicated to editing picture books, publishing essays, poems and fiction and is a huge advocate for early childhood literacy. She is a frequent speaker on literacy in China and Hong Kong.
