Biography

Sarah Brennan is the Hong Kong-based author of the best-selling Chinese Calendar Tales and Dirty Story series for primary school aged kids. Sarah grew up in the Australian island state of Tasmania and moved to Hong Kong in 1998, where she brought Chinese history and culture to children everywhere through her funny and educational stories. Over the past 14 years, she has taken her stories and writing workshops to over 300 schools in Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore, Australia and the UK. Sarah’s children’s picture book Storm Whale was released in the UK in 2017. In the UK, it was long-listed for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2018, won Runner Up in the TeachPrimary Awards 2018 and was shortlisted for the Hampshire Illustrated Book Award 2019. In Australia, it was a CBCA Notable and was short-listed for the Queensland Literary Awards and the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards 2018.
