Biography

Dr. Judith Blaine was born and bred in South Africa and has lived and worked in Hong Kong for the past 26 years. Judy has a medical background and worked in marketing and sales for a medical publishing company in Hong Kong. While raising her four children, she completed her BSc (hons) in Psychology though UK Open University. She then undertook a PGDE in Special Educational Needs at the University of Hong Kong, while working in the Individual Needs Department of two international schools, simultaneously completing her Psychology Masters through Liverpool University online. Judy achieved her PhD in Psychology, her thesis exploring the psychosocial outcomes of outdoor adventure education for adolescents. Judy is a Research Associate with Rhodes University, South Africa and founded her own company, Odyssey, which offers a strength-based approach to wellbeing. She wrote the first scientific peer-reviewed study exploring the psychosocial effects of mandatory quarantine in Hong Kong.
