Jeffrey Wasserstrom

Jeffrey Wasserstrom is the Chancellor’s Professor of History at UC Irvine, where he also holds courtesy appointments in Law and Literary Journalism. His most recent books are Vigil: Hong Kong on the Brink (Columbia Global Reports, 2020) and, as co-author, China in the 21st Century: What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford, third edition, 2018). He often contributes to newspapers (e.g., the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal), literary reviews (such as the TLS, Mekong Review, and the Los Angeles Review of Books), and magazines (including the Nation, Dissent, and the Atlantic online).
