Biography

Barbara Yelin, born in 1977 in Munich, studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. In 2014, Yelin published the graphic novel Irmina. It is based on the true story of a woman who collaborated with, or turned a blind eye to, National Socialism. The book won numerous prizes, and was nominated for the renowned Eisner Award in 2017. In 2016, at the suggestion of the Israel Goethe Institute, Yelin co-created (with David Polonsky) a comics biography about the Israeli actress Channa Maron. In 2016, she was declared ‘Best German-language Comics Artist’ at the International Comic Salon, Erlangen.
