Since 2001, HKILF has featured over 1,000 visiting and local authors in more than 1,100 literary events, including book talks, panel discussions and poetry readings. Celebrating ideas and stories and giving voice to diverse perspectives is now more urgent than ever. With less than half of our operating budget covered by ticketing income, we rely on the generosity of donors who recognize the value of reading and the power of the written word.
Our Young Readers Festival in the spring, and the Schools Programme of the ILF in November both bring inspiring authors to primary and secondary schools across the city, to promote a love of reading and writing as well as higher levels of literacy in Hong Kong.
