The Gifts of Reading Book Launch with Room to Read | Room to Read《The Gifts of Reading》發布會

Published to coincide with the 20th anniversary of global literacy non-profit, Room to Read, The Gifts of Reading is an anthology of essays by some of the world’s most beloved novelists, non-fiction writers, essayists and poets.

Inspired by Robert Macfarlane and curated by Jennie Orchard, these reflections form inspiring, unforgettable, irresistible proof of the power and necessity of books and reading. HKILF is delighted to team up with Room to Read Hong Kong for a special pre-festival event at Asia Society, to celebrate this remarkable collection. With a toast by renowned wine writer Jancis Robinson and readings from Robert Macfarlane, William Boyd and Imtiaz Dharker, this is an evening Hong Kong’s book lovers cannot afford to miss. With Room to Read Founder John Wood as MC.

Robert Macfarlane的啟發和Jennie Orchard的策劃,散文集中所蘊藏的鼓舞人心和難忘的作品再一次證明了書籍和閱讀的重要和必要性。 香港國際文學節很榮幸與Room to Read合作在亞洲協會舉辦這次前奏活動,一同慶祝這一傑出作品。 由著名品酒師Jancis Robinson祝酒和 Robert MacfarlaneWilliam BoydImtiaz Dharker帶領的讀書會,這會是一個香港書迷不容錯過的夜晚。 Room to Read 創始人John Wood將擔任主持人。

Jancis Robinson OBE MW is one of the world’s top international wine authorities – and she loves and lives for wine in all its glorious diversity.

Robert Macfarlane’s work has been translated into many languages and widely adapted for screen, stage and musical performance.

William Boyd was born in 1952 in Accra, Ghana, and grew up there and in Nigeria.

Imtiaz Dharker is a poet, artist and video film maker, awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2014.

John Wood is the Founder of Room to Read, an organization that has brought the lifelong gift of education to over 20 million children in 17 low-income countries.
