The Book Thief - Markus Zusak 偷書賊

Co-presented with the Faculty of Arts at The University of Hong Kong
Set in Nazi Germany during the fraught and tension-filled years of the Second World War, Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief is a coming-of-age story about the fragility and resilience of hope. The protagonist, Liesel, learns the power of words in order to reconcile the innocence of childhood with the destructive tragedy of Hitler’s regime. In the more than ten years since its release, The Book Thief has been adapted as a film, play, radio show and more. In collaboration with our venue partner The University of Hong Kong, join Zusak as he discusses the themes and messages of his much-beloved novel with moderator and English Literature and Law professor by Dr. Anya Adair.
