Battle of Hong Kong Walking Tour with Philip Cracknell: Shing Mun Redoubt

Battle of Hong Kong Walking Tours with Philip Cracknell (maximum of 12 people per tour, two people per individual booking.) These tours are suitable for adults and children over the age of 13. Please note the difficulty level of the walking, bring water and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Shing Mun Redoubt
- Date: Saturday 6 November
- Time: 9:30 – 15:00
- Place: Start at Pineapple Dam/Shing Mun Reservoir, end at Tai Po Road.
- Price: HKD400 per person
- Description: From Pineapple Dam, we will walk up the Maclehose Trail to the Artillery Observation Post (AOP) at the back of the redoubt. We will explore the tunnels and the remains of the pillboxes. We will examine what happened at the Shing Mun Redoubt and what were the consequences for the defence of the Mainland. We will then proceed to Golden Hill Road (via Smuggler’s Ridge) and Tai Po Road and will visit one or two Gin Drinkers Line pillboxes.
- Difficulty: Hard (with some steep ascents)
