Adapting The Handmaid’s Tale - Renée Nault
More than thirty years ago, Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale was released to critical acclaim. In recent years, the book’s presence and relevance in society have only grown; it has been adapted into ballet, opera, television and more. Join Canadian artist Renée Nault as she discusses the multiyear process of adapting The Handmaid’s Tale into a graphic novel. Nault’s adaptation is a visual masterpiece, each of her 240 pages carefully hand-painted with watercolour to bring to life Atwood’s dystopian classic. She will begin with a brief reading of her adaptation, followed by a discussion and Q&A session.
