Hong Kong is home to a rich ecosystem supporting over 40 species of snake, so encounters are quite common. But if you see a snake, how do you know if it is venomous, and what should you do to avoid injury, to yourself or the snake? Adam Francis is a lifelong nature enthusiast, founder of hongkongsnakeid.com and the author of the recent Field Guide to the Snakes of Hong Kong. Tonight he shares his approach to finding, photographing and documenting the many snake species found in Hong Kong, and talks about the place of snakes in the local ecosystem and some of the unique behaviors and characteristics of various local species.
