Dr. Wendy Gan is the author of two monographs; Fruit Chan's Durian, Durian (2005) and Women, Privacy and Modernity in Early Twentieth Century British Writing (2009). Much of Gan’s time as a PhD student at King’s College, London was spent studying British women essayists of the early twentieth century and now, as Associate Professor at the School of English, HKU, she studies and grades an entirely different kind of essay.
