Verner Bickley has lived in Asia for most of his life. A writer, speaker, broadcaster and actor, he is currently an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Hong Kong and Chairman of the English-Speaking Union in Hong Kong. His most recent book Footfalls Echo in the Memory: A Life with the Colonial Education Service and the British Council in Asia (2010) is a personal account of his career as an Education Officer in British Colonial Service in Singapore and as British Council officer in Burma, Indonesia and Japan.
