Evelyn Lau is a Canadian poet and novelist. Her diary of her life on the streets since 14, published as Runaway: Diary of a Street Kid in 1989, was a critical and commercial success and a best-seller.  It was made into a CBC movie called The Diary of Evelyn Lau in 1994. Her subsequent volumes of poetry and her first novel confirmed her as one of Canada's liveliest young literary talents. She has recently published two volumes of poetry. She currently lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
