He’d waited a lifetime to meet her.

"No, no!" he shrieked, reaching through the tiny window.

He grabbed the ticket seller’s lapels. "Please! She's my favourite author. I've read Summer’s End 16 times."

The helmet-haired saleswoman was undaunted. "I'm sorry, sir," she said. "It's sold out. Now please take your greasy paws off my Armani or you’ll never read it again."

Why you should Sponsor the International Literary Festival?

You can be seen as one of the drivers for a new cultural event on Hong Kong's calendar.

You will be credited with taking practical steps to solve one of Hong Kong's most pressing problems - the loss of competitiveness caused by falling English standards. You will have direct access to educators, universities, schools and their students.

Through association with world class authors and a new generation of up and coming Asian authors you will be seen as a leader in the community supporting an event that cuts through racial and national barriers to simply promote the best there is.

As in previous years, events will take the form of themed discussion sessions, writing workshops, performance poetry readings, multi-media arts, workshops, drama presentations, film showings, meet-the-author opportunities and new book launches.

The audiences are varied and draw a cross section of the community from young Chinese professionals to students and teachers and general members of the community who just want to share the joy of reading.

The venues will be as diverse as possible to ensure we reach a wide cross section of the community. As in previous years, we will stage events in venues such as The Fringe Club, The Foreign Correspondents’ Club, Libraries on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, private clubs, schools, universities, corporate offices and Leisure and Cultural Services venues all over Hong Kong from Central to Kwun Tong to the New Territories.
