East and West in a Shanghai Murder Story: A Literary Lunch with Qiu Xiaolong

On 29 November 2007 the Man Hong Kong International Literary Festival and M at the Fringe will co-present an event that combines two of life's great pleasures: books and food.

Please join us for a literary lunch at M at the Fringe where Qiu Xiaolong will give us an exclusive sneak-peek at his forthcoming novel, The Red Mandarin Dress. The fifth installment of Qiu Xiaolong's masterful Inspector Chen mysteries, The Red Mandarin Dress finds Inspector Chen on the case of Shanghai's first serial killer, whose trademark is leaving his victims dressed in - you guessed it - a red mandarin dress.

A Shanghai native, Qiu Xiaolong makes his hometown central to his writing, powerfully evoking 1990s Shanghai society. Today, he resides in the United States, where he earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in comparative literature, and specializes in translating ancient Chinese poetry.

Book now to attend. 29 November 2007, registration at 12.00pm and lunch from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. $288 per person (includes lunch).
